My first paragraph!

Elijah of Buxton by Cristopher Paul Curtis is a 341 page book about a boy and his family who live on a settlemant for escaped slaves. A main character, Mr. Leroy, has money to buy his family out of slavery so he sends the preacher and Mr. Highgates to do so. The preacher shoots Mr. Highgates and takes the money for himself. Elijah and Mr. Leroy go to get the money from the preacher but Mr. Leroy dies and Elijah discovers the preacher has been hanged.

    Wow! What a wierd book. My teacher read it to the class last year but I don't think we finished it. I wonder how the author even got himself to write that, what with the PREACHER being selfish and SHOOTING the other guy.then being hanged, ugh! Too much violence!
